A BRIEF NOTE ON
We started our journey in the year of 1962 as "An independent economic fortnightly dedicated to economic profession"
We make no tall claims but the Journal is winning more and more friends
because it does not economize on truth;
It reaches the cream of Intelligentsia; It believes in gentle persuasion;
It is non-partisan; Whether you have a sales message or just a message
you can put it across most effectively in Southern Economist.
K.N. Subrahmanya entered the journalistic profession soon after he graduated from the University of Mysore, in 1949. After a brief stint at Sachin Chaudhury's Economic Weekly, Subrahmanya worked in Indian Shipping for over two years. Later, he joined Free Press Journal when its founder S. Sadanand was still at the helm. In 1955, he left Free Press Journal to join Deccan Herald, Bangalore, which was then being edited by Pothan Joseph. After a 11 years stint at The Herald, he resigned to take over the editorship of Southern Economist which he, with his wife Susheela had founded in 1962.
